Baabaara's Handspun

About Us

Once upon a time there was a woman who raised some sheep.  She had a friend who helped with chores occasionally. Eventually the friend was gifted sheep for her birthday ...........and was told...."you have sheep, now you need to learn to spin".  Loaning out one of her wheels, hand cards and fiber, the process began.  Thank you, Diania!  I am the friend who benefited so greatly from her generosity.

I have been spinning and loving it for years now, and have yarns to share.  I create some finished products from my yarn, but my first love is the creation of the yarn itself.  I don't have the sheep I had when I first started spinning, life has taken me through other places.  I do have three breeds of sheep at this time, and 6 alpacas to provide me with the natural colors I want to play with.  (and some white to dye!)  I take pride in spinning sustainable organic local fibers and am currently working with Central Oregon Localvore to promote sustainablity.  http://www.centraloregonlocavore.com.

I have found that occasionally there is a pet or animal that someone would love to use the fiber off of.  Sometimes this is just to use this "free" fabulous fiber, and sometimes it is to have a keepsake.  I do custom spinning for people who desire it.  Please contact me for more information.
